I have been a Florida licensed real estate agent since 2001, but I spent a decade living in Washington DC working as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) before coming back home to Palm Beach to focus on real estate.
My CPA career is rooted in my days as an auditor at KPMG, one of the “Big Four” public accounting firms.
One of my favorite experiences at the firm was when I was sent to New York City to join the team that was auditing our firm’s largest real estate client, Tishman Speyer. Their portfolio included the Chrysler Building and Rockefeller Center! My main focus was on their International holdings, which included properties in Brazil and Germany.
While in NYC, I was also asked to join the team for a smaller developer. I was thrilled to learn that this developer had ties to South Florida. Indeed, they developed both the Ritz Carlton in South Beach and in Jupiter.
Over the years, I have been exposed to many aspects of the real estate business, including commercial and residential developers, private-public partnerships, REITs, historic preservation, and affordable housing programs.
In addition to my formal education, I also learned from the school of hard knocks when it came to purchasing my own properties. All of my experiences have taught me valuable lessons.
My work and my life are guided by my core values and philosophies: treat people with respect and dignity, be honest and fair, and keep an attitude of gratitude!
